Our Family Farm

Here at Threlfall’s Farm Dairies we pride ourselves on being a fourth-generation family run business.

It all started in the early 1900s when our great grandad, William Haworth Threlfall, inhabited a small farm and began delivering milk to our community on horse and cart. As the generation passed on, his son William Haworth Threlfall the 2nd, got the great opportunity of farming the land of Rishton at Holt Farm. Where we remain today, with the third-generation farmer -Thomas Edward Threlfall, and fourth generation farmer – Paul Threlfall. With currently three generations of the Threlfall family working both on the farm and in the dairy.

In 2000, we had a great opportunity to take on a dairy farm at Whin Isle Farm, less than a mile away from Holt Farm. We moved our milking herd over to Whin Isle farm, while keeping our bottling dairy at Holt Farm.

Over the last few years, we have worked hard and invested a lot into our herd, the farm, and the dairy. With investments been made on our buildings, parlour, dairy, and equipment, it has meant we could expand our herd and now milk around 200 happy cows twice a day. Check out our gallery to see more photos of the herd, along with the new improvements we have made on the farms.
